Mrs. Helen M. O’Neill Witte, age 69, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012.
Mrs. Witte was a native Delawarean, born in Wilmington on August 13, 1943, daughter of the late George O’Neill, Jr. and Helen V. McCrea O’Neill. A gifted homemaker, loving wife and mother, she devoted her life to caring for her beloved family. She delighted especially in hosting large, joyous family dinners and was always at her happiest when in the company of her beloved grandchildren. She was proud to attend all of her family’s sporting events and competitions (where there was no greater fan than she was!). Admired by all for her gentle, gracious, and compassionate nature, Mrs. Witte always had a kind word for everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by the many people who loved her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Donald L. Witte, Sr.; children, Donald Witte, Jr. and wife Djuna of Bear, Brian Witte and wife Jennifer of Wilmington, Keith Witte and wife Jennifer of Dover, and Jenny Marvel and husband Richard of Townsend; brothers, The Rev. John O’Neill, OSFS, of DeSales University and George O’Neill and wife Marie of Kingsport, TN; sister, Mary Jane Gibison and husband Tom of Wilmington; and grandchildren, Donald III, Christopher, Ashley, Courtlyn, Jared, Madelyn, Hannah, Colin, Mackenzie, and Grace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Eugenia “Jean” Pichulo and Elizabeth “Libby” White.
