Helen Marie Dudlek

Helen Marie Dudlek passed away peacefully, at her home on Saturday, October 8, 2022, with her family by her side.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, March 29, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy and Henry Cressman. She graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School. Helen married Francis (Gus) Dudlek of Philadelphia, PA on November 21, 1959, and they raised four sons. They moved to Delaware City, DE in 1971.
Helen retired from the State of Delaware Alcohol Beverage Control Commission after many years of service as a legal assistant secretary.
Helen took great joy in her family and traveling with her husband and friends. Helen hosted Sunday dinners and made every holiday special while keeping family traditions alive. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and beloved friend. Helen was always a stylish dresser and the epitome of class, warmth, and joy. She loved to laugh and haven fun, and had an infectious smile. She never missed a family event. In her spare time, she was an avid reader.
Helen was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Delaware City, for 50 years. She was also a member of the Delaware American Legion Auxiliary, Post 13 and served in various leadership roles. In addition, she was an appointed commissioner for the Delaware Board of Elections.
Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Cressman. Helen is survived by her loving husband of nearly 63 years, Francis Dudlek; her sons, Joseph (Colleen), George (Sue Ellen), Michael (Gina), and Henry “Harry” (Holli) all residing in Delaware; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am on Friday, October 14, 2022 at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 209 Washington Street, Delaware City, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s New Catholic Cemetery, 743 Cox Neck Road, New Castle, DE.
