          Helen V. Estes, age 94, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019.

          Born in Newark, NJ on May 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Edna (Brady) Schwarz.  Helen loved her family and devoted her life as a talented homemaker.

          She enjoyed working with children, especially at New Castle Head Start.  Helen was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching the game show network.  Dedicated to her faith, Helen was a long-time member of Christiana Presbyterian Church.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. Estes.  Helen is survived by her children, Barbara Ellen Walls of Bear and Howard Kenneth Estes (Brooke) of Ellicott City, MD; grandchildren, Kenneth Ray Phibbs (Chandelle) of New Castle, Jordan Estes Hudson (Devin) of New Castle and Taylor Anne Kline (Jake) of Fruitland, MD; and great grandchildren, Elliette Paige Hudson and Austin Emmell.

          A committal service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, December 20, 2019, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

  • To my dearest Aunt Helen’s memory and Uncle Howard, two wonderful ‘greatest generation’ folks who I am honored to have as family. May they both rest in eternal peace as so well deserved for a life lived the right way, and most respectfully.
    My sympathies to Kenny, Barbara and the entire Estes family, all of whom are wonderful folks as well thankfully which I am family to.

  • it has been a month today mom that you left us, seems a lifetime ago, I know you are with dad and the rest of the jerseyites which gives me some comfort. We miss you and dad so much but know that we will all be together again in Gods good time. Keep an eye on us here to make sure we are still doing things right.
