Herbert Joseph “Herb” Altizer

Herbert Joseph “Herb” Altizer, age 80, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019.
Born in Radford, VA on March 25, 1939, he was the son of the late Herbert Jackson Altizer and Mary Elizabeth (Burnett) McCloskey. Herb proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as a fire systems inspector for Wayman Fire Protection, retiring in 1994 after many years. He was a very talented artist and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his 5 Grandchildren.
Herb is survived by his wife, Catherine Elaine (Donovan) Altizer; daughter, Christine Appenzeller and husband Joel, grandchildren, Kayla and Christian; son, Darren Altizer and wife Nancy, grandchildren, Mckenna, Jacob and Abigail.
Service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
