Israel Custodio, Sr.

February 24, 1932 - January 14, 2024

Israel Custodio, Sr., age 91, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Mayagues, Puerto Rico on February 24, 1932, he was the son of the late Cecilio and Angelica (Harry) Custodio. Israel attended Augustin Stahl School and Marina Jr. High School in Aguadilla, PR and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in New York, NY in 1952.

After graduation, Israel proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He earned various medals for his service and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal (May 27, 1952), Korean Service Medal (September 27, 1953), the United Nations Service Medal (September 27, 1953), and the Good Conduct Medal (August 18, 1955). Following his military career, Israel was an accountant with Bankers Trust Company in New York City, retiring in 1993.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carmen Delia Pabon; second wife, Maribeth (Stroble) Custodio; and siblings, Samuel, David, and Hilda. Israel is survived by his loving children, Elizabeth Custodio, Israel Custodio, Jr., Michael Custodio (Jacqueline), and Angelica Custodio; grandchildren, Sierra, Israel III, Ashely, Gabrielle, Ayannah, Lilita, and Dominick; and siblings, William, Ernesto, and Naomi.

Services will be held privately.
