Jackie L. Cross
Mr. Jackie L. Jack Cross, age 76, of New Castle, DE, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2010.
Jack was born on March 10, 1934 in the small town of Marfrance, WV, one of six children of Ethel (Pitzenbarger) and Charles Cross. He spent the early part of his life as a proud parent and strong provider for his family. He worked tirelessly and faithfully for many employers including Goodyear Aircraft, Chrysler Motors, and Boeing Vertol.
A devout Christian, Jack was a longtime member of Kennett Square Full Gospel Church and taught Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed reading his Bible each day and would often fall asleep listening to the Bible on tape. Jack was also a member of Hiram Lodge AF&AM.
His many interests included tinkering with cars, watching old westerns, talking to friends and new acquaintances alike, and visiting his home state of West Virginia. He was an accomplished guitarist as well.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruby Cross; sister, Roberta Marsh; children, Arden Cross (Brenda), Sharon Sue Hodges (Wes), Steven Cross (Valerie Coin); daughter-in-law, Michelle Cross; grandchildren, Jacquelin, William, Joshua, Jerrett, Jentzen and Brenden; and great grandchildren, Mason, Jacob, and Chloe. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, four brothers, numerous aunts and uncles, and countless friends.
Visitation will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, October 31, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 1, 2010, at the funeral home with a second visitation beginning at 10 am and a Masonic service at 10:45 am. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
