James P. Perialas, Jr.

Mr. James Peter Perialas, Jr., age 69, of Bear, DE, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013.
A native Delawarean, Mr. Perialas was born in Wilmington on June 29, 1943. He was a graduate of Newark High School and would go on to serve his country proudly in the US Navy. In civilian life, he made his career with New Castle County, where he retired as a rehabilitation specialist in 1999 after 28 years of service. Following his retirement, he accepted a position as the manager of the Texaco Station in Bear.
Mr. Perialas was greatly interested in model trains throughout his life and was active in the Train Collectors Association (TCA) for many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen Jean Perry Perialas; mother, Hilda Beck Perialas; sons, Michael H. Perialas and his wife Becky and Matthew J. Perialas and his companion, Linda Keelins; brother, Paul Perialas; sister, Ann Baker; cousin, Joanne Szymanski; grandchildren, Emily and Stephen; and great granddaughter, Sarah. He was preceded in death by his father, James P. Perialas, Sr.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, January 13th, at Salem United Methodist Church, 469 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19702. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, January 14th, at the church, where a second visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
