Mrs. Jane M. Burns, age 78, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011, while surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on November 5, 1933, Mrs. Burns was the daughter of the late John Morrison and Isabella Wenk Morrison. She retired from the Brandywine School District after many years of dedicated service where she was employed as a cook.
Mrs. Burns enjoyed many hobbies in her leisure time. She relished her trips to the shore in Avalon, NJ, loved shopping, and cooking for her large family. Additionally, Mrs. Burns was an avid reader and liked completing crossword puzzles. Above all else, she delighted in spending time with her beloved family, all of whom will miss her deeply.
Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert P. Burns, who passed away in 1996. She is survived by her daughters, Robin Groom, and husband, John, of Bear, DE and Susan Burns, and husband, Michael Tancredi, of Wilmington, DE; sister, Martha Salter, and husband, Robert, of Spring, TX; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and her life long best friend, Ruth Taub.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 12:30 pm at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where friends and family may call from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm. Interment will be private in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Mrs. Burn’s name be sent to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Suite 100, Wilmington, DE 19810.
