Jane S. Ryan

Jane S. Ryan, age 82, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 12, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Wilmington, DE on September 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Jane (Tobin) Sentman. Jane graduated from William Penn High School in 1954 and attended Goldey Beacom College. After raising her family, she worked in the family business, First State Steel Drum alongside her sons. Jane also worked as a secretary with the Delaware State Police for 5 years. Jane served as a team Mom and concession stand coordinator in the Newark National Little League and Capitol Trail Football League. She never missed any of her sons or late husband’s sport activities. She was a loving and caring mom and grandmother to her children and grandchildren and countless others.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John V. Ryan, Jr. She is survived by her sons, John V. Ryan III, William Rick Ryan (Dr. Daria Ryan) and Robert S. Ryan; grandchildren, Jay Ryan (Michelle), Mitch Ryan, Austin Bowden and Alexis Ryan; and lifelong best friend, Sandra McCracken.
The Family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the University of Pennsylvania Oncology Department, Dr. Ashley Haggerty, Sara Di Bartolomeo and Janes’ friend and care taker, Alex Taylor.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will be held privately at New Castle U.M. Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Holloway Terrace Fire Company, attn: Ladies Auxiliary, 700 West Ave., P.O. Box 684, New Castle, DE 19720.

The best 4 years I ever experienced were my college years where mrs Ryan would feed me every week. She was the kindest most loving lady I may not have seen or spoken to her in many years but she is always there in my heart. May she Rest In Peace with her dearly departed
