Janet Arlene “Netty” Cale, age 65, of Saint Georges, DE, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020.

Born in Wilmington, DE on January 9, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Warner E. Sr. and Leola M Henry. Janet was a graduate of Middletown High School in 1973, following attending Delaware State University she began her career working at The Chronically Ill in Smyrna, Delaware. She worked as a Youth Counselor at Governor Bacon Residential Treatment Center for adolescents in Delaware City, Delaware. Then, she continued to work as Youth Counselor at Middletown Silver Lake Residential Treatment Center (RTC) in Middletown, Delaware. Next, she worked at Walmart in Middletown after she retired with 33 years of employment with the State of Delaware. Lastly, she helped provide childcare services at a center in Wilmington, Delaware with her daughter Sheena. Also, she lovingly helped with caring for her grandchildren in her home when needed.

Janet married William Andrew Cale, Jr. on May 14, 1983 and from this union came two children, Juice and Sheena. She loved her family and cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. Netty had a love and passion for life, she was the life of the party. She was loved by her family and so many friends for her reward winning fun, loving, and down to earth personality and spirit. Her favorite thing to do was shop. She enjoyed singing and could be found in the kitchen cooking. She loved family and friend gatherings where she would dance, laugh, and make jokes that everyone enjoyed. Janet loved going to church at Calvary Baptist Church in Middletown, DE where she was a member for many years and she loved listening to gospel music and praising the Lord.

Janet was preceded in death by her mother, Leola M. Henry; father, Warner E. Henry Sr.; siblings, Aileen W. Henry, Florence M. Henry, Warner E. Henry, Jr., Delmar E. Henry and Althelia M. Matson; and nephews, Willard Waters and Darryl Henry.

Janet is survived by William Andrew Cale, Jr.; son, William “Juice” Cale III of Delaware City; daughter, Sheena Cale-Booker (Nakeem) of St. Georges; grandchildren, Mya, Justice, Jahiem and Chase; siblings, Dallas Henry (Ruby) of Bear, Dewittfield Henry (Glenzel) of Middletown, Alvin Henry (Victoria) of Wilmington, Janice Green (Thenell) of Clayton, Otis Henry (Kathleen) of Smyrna, Quentin Henry of Smyrna, Felecia Henry of Middletown, Waldo Henry (Lesia) of Middletown, Ronny Henry (Juvy) of Middletown and Wanda Henry-Lewis of Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Joyce Henry of Chesterville; nieces and nephews, Pamela Watson (Neal), Francine Boyd (Ted), Trudy Brown (William), Nigel Chandler, Derek Brady, Dana Brady, Dalisha Henry, Dallas Henry, Jr., Dewittfield Henry, Jr. (Caitlyn), Latanya Henry, Carlissa Henry-Jones (Steven), Latoya Hobbs, Quentin Henry, Jr., Bruchette Henry, Warner Henry, Jaden Henry and Tyron Henry; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10:45 am on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow at Pinetree Cemetery, 413 Blackbird Landing, Townsend, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance.

  • With a heavy heart I send condolences to the Cale/Henry family. Netty and I worked together at Governor Bacon for many years and she was a friend who was straight froward. We maintained contact via phone through the years and always talked about connecting, sorry we kept putting that off! I was stunned and sadden to learn of her passing the evening of her going home service. I will keep the family in my prayers, losing a mother, sister, friend is so hard but God knows and I pray that he will comfort you in a mighty way. SIP Netty you will surly be missed!
