Jean (John) Rene Kerbrat
September 8, 1950 - January 28, 2023
Jean (John) Rene Kerbrat, age 72, most recently of Smyrna, DE, formally from North Plainfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2023.
Born in Paris, France on September 8, 1950, he was a son of the late Lucien and Henriette (Jeqat) Kerbrat. John worked as a production supervisor at P.D.I. in Orangeburg, NY for many years before retiring in 2019.
John’s interests mainly revolved around his wife and family, particularly his grandchildren. He found great joy in his many visits to the Poconos, where he happily owned a vacation home for several years. He loved ‘discussing’ politics with people, as is evident by his choice of a favorite TV channel. His family always enjoyed hearing his stories from when he was a NY City cabbie back in the day. He enjoyed his music from Rolling Stones, Bob Dillan, The Beatles and Willie Nelson.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Henriette Kerbrat. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 51 years, Carole Guilbaud Kerbrat; children, Therese Kerbrat-Gonzales (Eddie), Nadine Hermann (Keith), and Pascal Kerbrat (Karen); brothers, Guy Kerbrat (Violaine) and Herve Kerbrat (Caroline); and grandchildren, Alexandre (Rachel), Angelique, Nicholas, Emilie, Amelia, and Amalie.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 pm until 4 pm on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 4 pm. The cremation and interment will be held privately.

I met Jean several times through the years being a friend of Keith and Nadine. I always found Jean to be an upbeat person and I enjoyed our conversations, and the epic volleyball game with everyone in the rain at one of the Hermann barbecues. My condolences to the entire family. May he rest in peace.
Bob Hermann
Our sincerest condolences to Carole, Therese, Nadine, and Pascal and their spouses and children.
Jean was very devoted to his family and to the quality of life, with travels, fun, and the love of his grandchildren. He will be missed.
