Jeffrey J. Depotty
Jeffrey J. Depotty, age 56, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2011.
Born in Detroit, MI, on May 3, 1955, Mr. Depotty was the son of the late Roy Depotty and Catherine Masley Depotty. He proudly served his country for 10 years in the US Navy and would go on to make his career with Shoprite, where he worked for 23 years. A favorite of customers and colleagues alike, he was selected as shop steward of the Stanton store.
Mr. Depotty was a gifted guitarist throughout his life, and, in earlier years, followed the Grateful Dead on their concert tours. An avid hiker and trout fisherman, he delighted especially in spending time in Virginia. He was also a fan of NASCAR for many years and loved animals, particularly German Shepherds.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Roxanne “Peggy” Munro; children, Christine Depotty of Saginaw, MI, Anthony P. Depotty (Renee) of Bonita Springs, FL, and Staff Sgt. Patrick Depotty and wife Angela of Ft. Richardson, AK; sisters, Cynthia, Susan, and Patricia, all of Michigan; mother-in-law, Margaret Neyers of Earleville, MD; sisters-in-law, Catherine “Kitten” Smith and husband Preston and Jennifer Arwood of Earleville, MD; niece, Kelly Bellom and husband Jeff of Dover, DE; nine grandchildren; dear friends, Douglas M. Vass, Jr. and wife Sara of Marydel, DE, Tammy Labree and her daughter Hannah Labree of Wilmington, DE, J. Rick Rivera of Wilmington, DE, Bob Shockley of Wilmington, DE, and Rick Cunningham (Paula) of Wilmington, DE; and all of Ma Bell’s children.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Gregory Papa for his care and kindness during Mr. Depotty’s illness.
Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
