Mr. Jerry D. Meadows, age 62, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2013.
Born in Logan, WV, on June 9, 1950, Jerry was the son of the late Junior D. Meadows and Josie L. Justice Meadows. He proudly served his country for two years in the US Army during the Vietnam War, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. Jerry made his career as a construction foreman and worked for several local builders over the years. He was most recently employed by Capano Homes, where he had spent the past 8 years.
Jerry was best known for his hardworking and dedicated work ethic. In his leisure hours, he enjoyed time spent outdoors in his garden, taking long rides in his truck with his wife, and knew how to appreciate a cold beer. Jerry was an avid reader, and especially liked biographies related to history. He loved watching John Wayne westerns and mafia movies. Above all else, Jerry was a dedicated family man, who adored spending time with his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elizabeth. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Elizabeth “Becky” Casula Meadows; children, Stephanie L. Wierzbicki and husband, DJ of Elkton, MD, Sean P. Meadows of Newark, and Nicholas A. Meadows, and wife, Brenda of New Castle; and grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas, Kayla, Nathan, Noah, Gillian, Madeline, Breanna, Samantha, and Kelsey.
A funeral service will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends and family may call from 4 pm until 6 pm. Interment will be held at 10 am on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
