Jewel C.  Blansfield, age 71, of Port Penn, DE, passed away quietly, with her daughter beside her holding her hand, on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Christiana Hospital.

Jewel was born on April 10, 1948 and lived her entire life in Port Penn. She was a daughter of the late James J. and Doris B. (Dyer) Blansfield.  Jewel worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years before retiring, then worked part-time for the U.S. Postal Service as a Postmaster Relief.

Jewel was very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Port Penn, as well as other churches in her area.  She not only played the organ at her home church for over 50 years, she also played for other churches’ services, weddings, and funerals. Jewel enjoyed baking and even baked and decorated cakes for weddings, showers, birthdays, and more.  She also, enjoyed sewing, especially making her daughter’s and grandchildrens’ Halloween costumes.  Jewel enjoyed spending time with her family and was always a very active participant in her daughter’s and grandchildrens’ lives. She made a point to make it to as many recitals, tournaments, plays, ceremonies, meets, games, trips, birthdays, holiday dinners, parties, and even practices as she could. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. In her spare time, Jewel enjoyed crossword and sudoku puzzles, video games, reading, art, listening to and playing music, and crafts. Jewel loved helping others and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!
