Mrs. Joan E. Ross, age 83, of Scituate, MA, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Bear, DE, of complications resulting from a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born in Roosevelt, NY, on January 30, 1930, Joan was the daughter of the late Albert Budd and Beatrice Smith Budd. After raising her children, she worked as an office assistant for longtime Scituate family practice physician Dr. Herbert Blanchard and for Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was active with local bridge clubs and enjoyed gardening, camping, and travel. As a dedicated member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, she had a special passion for making crafts for the church’s annual harvest fair.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, William A. Ross, and by her son, Alan S. Ross. She is survived by her children, Jack W. Ross and wife Camilla of Colchester, CT, Kenneth B. Ross and wife Mary Ann of Oveido, FL, and Lesley A. Frost and husband Dan of Bear, DE; thirteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be scheduled in Scituate at a later date.
