Mrs. Joan J. Eagan, age 81, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2012.
Mrs. Eagan was born in Tomahawk, WI, on September 25, 1930, daughter of the late Donald J. Loomis and Mary E. Ludford Loomis. A talented homemaker throughout her life, she greatly enjoyed sewing, arranging flowers, painting, ceramics, and embroidery. In earlier years, she looked forward to traveling with her husband and family.
Mrs. Eagan proudly supported her husband’s Navy career and was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association. In her leisure hours, she enjoyed studying birds, cheering for her favorite NASCAR drivers, and watching classic old movies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Eagan, and a son, Donald Eagan. She is survived by sons, William Eagan and wife, Joanne, of Wilmington, and Thomas Eagan of Bear; brother, James Loomis of California; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, where visitation will begin at 9 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
