John A. Loeb

John A. Loeb, age 95, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
Born in Oley, PA on May 4, 1929, he was a son of the late Oscar M. and Florence (Knabb) Loeb. John proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He made his career as a maintenance supervisor at the Delmarva Power Plant in Delaware City for 35 years until his retirement.
A friend to the community, John was a member and Past Master at St. John’s Lodge in New Castle. He also enjoyed serving as a fast and slow pitch softball umpire for 46 years for the Delaware Amateur Softball Association. In his spare time, John could often be found tending to his plentiful vegetable garden.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Teressa Loeb; children, Ronald Loeb, Robert Loeb, and Cheryl Loeb; siblings, Grace Hoffman, Ralph Loeb, Harold Loeb, Irma Bauer, and Naomi Kegerise. He is survived by his children, Jo Ann Quinn (Paul) of New Castle, Martha Taylor of Greensboro, NC, and William Loeb (Maryann) of Newark; sister, Anna Burgert (Chester) of Leesport, PA; grandchildren, Robert Quinn (Sharon), Alison Quinn (Jason), Kristofer Loeb (Erin), Matthew Loeb (Kelly), and Gisele Wells (Tom); and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Abby, Mandy, Anthony, Brandon, Chrissy, Leo, Sybil, Henry, and Jackson.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a masonic and a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Inurnment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
