John B. “Johnny” Gibson, Jr.

John B. Gibson, Jr., affectionately known as “Johnny”, age 67, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021.

Born in Hampton, VA on September 13, 1953, he was a son of Carlene F. (Stevens) Sammon and the late John B. Gibson, Sr. Johnny made his career as a security guard for Spence Security. He later worked for Village Green Florist as a deliveryman, from where he retired. Johnny was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.  For many years, Johnny volunteered as a referee for high school football as well as umpiring little league baseball. He also enjoyed horse racing and playing the lottery.

Services and interment will be held privately.

In addition to his father, Johnny was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Edward Gibson and James Michael Gibson and step father, Kenneth J. Sammon. In addition to his mother, Johnny is survived by his sisters, Margaret L. Colombo (James), Teresa L. Carosino (Carl) and Shannon M. Goldsborough; brother, Matthew J. Sammon (Lori); and many of nieces and nephews.
