August 2, 1934 - March 26, 2022

John H. Young, Jr., age 87, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

Born in Nanticoke, PA on August 2, 1934, he was a son of the late John H. and Hazel (Minnick) Young, Sr. John spent his career as an assembly line worker for General Motors.

He enjoyed listening to music, especially country. He was an avid guitar player and played in several family bands. In his leisure time you could find him tending to his garden. John loved visiting Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City, MD, he couldn’t wait to enjoy a helping of Thrasher’s fries. Above all, he cherished his family and looked forward to taking family vacations.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Chuck Young, Joanie Thomas, and Edward Young. He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred E. (Gardy) Young; children, Linda L. Young Hedrick of Ocean City, MD, Brian Young of Jefferson City, TN, John Young III (Ona-Kai) of Newark, and Wayne A. Young (Mary) of Grand Blanc, MI; sisters, Mary Alice Ceasar (Joe) of Arizona, and Loretta Mascioni of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.

I remember him with your Mom many years ago, when I attended the Newport KH, and he was very kind and loved your Mom.
