John Leonard Allin

John Leonard Allin, age 86, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
He was born on November 1, 1935, in Penns Grove, NJ to the late Leonard and Frances (Dewes) Allin. Upon graduating from high school John enlisted in the Delaware National Guard. He later went on to work for the DuPont company in Wilmington for over 30 years, retiring in 1991.
John was very active in the sports community. He was a little league coach for many years and former president of the Canal Little League. In his late years he really enjoyed the New Castle County men’s softball league. John competed in the Senior Olympics for volleyball and took home plenty of medals. He was a member of the Moose Post #1578 in New Castle and Fraim Senior Center for active adults.
John relocated to Port Charlotte, FL with his longtime companion, Dorothy Sutton. He spent his free time doing his favorite hobbies. He was an avid gardener and spent hours working on his lawn. He and Dot relished their time spent with friends, on the water, at the beach, and playing cards.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Nancy (Cheseroni) Allin, and his Sisters Nancy Hinchman and Betty. He is survived by his son, Roman Allin (Ashlie); daughter, Monica Allin-Kimbel (Bob); and 5 grandchildren, Courtney Allin, Daria, Allin, Antonio Allin, Taylor Allin, and Sara Kimbel.
A celebration of John’s life will be held from 6 pm until 7 pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will be held privately.
