Joseph John “Joey” Rzemieniewski

April 15, 1967 - November 21, 2021

Joseph John “Joey” Rzemieniewski, age 54, of Smyrna, DE, passed away unexpectedly with his loving wife by his side on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

Born in Wilmington, DE on April 15, 1967, he was the son of the late Jesse J. and Mary M. (Dougherty) Rzemieniewski.

He graduated from Delcastle Technical High School in 1985. For the past 32 years, Joey was employed with Cardenti Electric. An avid bowler, he was a regional member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA). Joey cherished the many friendships he made at Mid County Lanes, as well as several other area bowling centers.

He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Eagles. In addition to bowling, Joey’s hobbies included golfing and playing softball with many of his friends and family. For those who were blessed with his friendship, Joey will always be remembered as a genuine, caring, and kind hearted friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Josef and Josefine Rzemieniewski and Mabel and Joseph Robinson. Joey will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 12 years, Vickie Lynn (Abrams) Rzemieniewski; sister, Ann R. Trent (Kevin) of Newark; brothers-in-law, Norman Abrams, Jr. (Patty) of Middletown and Gregory Callaway (Britta) of Middletown; nieces, Courtney Elvey (David) of Bear, Rebecca Starkey (Jimmy) of Middletown, and Katie, Julie, and Annie Abrams all of Middletown; nephews, Nick Trent (Lauren) of North East, MD and Charles McCall (Meghan) of Spring Green, WI; great nephew, Emmett Elvey; mother-in-law, Lillian Callaway of Arcadia, FL; and his beloved 4-legged friends, Juliet, Jazz, Molly, Romeo, and Pogo.

As a Gift of Life Donor, Joey’s memory will continue to live on through the lives of others.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 pm until 5 pm on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.  A second visitation will be held from 9 am until 10 am on Monday, November 29, 2021 at the funeral home where funeral services will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Tanner’s Endless Love, 301 DeRose Court, Bear, DE 19701 in memory of Joey’s love for dogs.

Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the Governor of Delaware.
