Joyce L. McWilliams Clark

Died: 4/12/2010

Mrs. Joyce L. McWilliams Clark, age 50, of Bear, DE, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2010. Mrs. Clark was born in Cinnaminson, NJ, on April 24, 1959, and was a graduate of William Penn High School. A banking professional throughout her career, she was employed in customer service with the Bank of New York for 16 years and, most recently, had worked as a receptionist for Wilmington Trust. Mrs. Clark devoted her life to her beloved family and delighted in spending time with them, whether relaxing by the pool or boating or celebrating special occasions together. A wonderful and generous hostess, she especially enjoyed neighborhood gatherings. She was also well known for her lifelong love of dancing; she was always the first one on the dance floor and the last one off, which earned her the affectionate nickname Jiggy. An avid sports fan as well, Mrs. Clark loved cheering for her favorite teams, the Eagles, the Phillies, and the Baltimore Ravens. She is survived by her husband and companion of 25 years, John L. Clark; son, Jeremiah Stone (Dawn) of New Castle; daughter, Savannah Clark, at home; mother, Geraldine Brumbaugh McWilliams of Wilmington; brothers, Joe McWilliams (Pat) of Monticello, IN; and John McWilliams (Gladys) of Elsmere; and grandchildren, Antonio Fragale and Cierra Stone. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe McWilliams. The family extends special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of MICU at Christiana Hospital for their many kindnesses during this difficult time. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, April 16, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Savannah L. Clark Education Fund, c/o Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home at the address above.
