June L. Leber

September 9, 1930 - November 24, 2018

June L. Leber, age 88, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018.

Born in Altoona, PA on September 9, 1930, she was the daughter to the late Robert and Zelma (Smith) Ray. June graduated from Altoona HS and put herself through Nursing School working at the Petticoat Junction in East Juniata making $.18 an hour and filling her pockets with change from her tips. She went on to work at the local hospital where she met and married John Leber in the early 1950’s. June, John and their son, Robert lived in various places in PA and MD until they settled in Lancaster, PA where June and her son lost John to Pancreatic cancer. In 1973 June married Dale Leber and they moved to Dale’s home in Newark, Delaware.

June continued to work in nursing at hospitals, schools, state facilities and also as an educator until her retirement. She and Dale enjoyed travelling, visiting Robert “Bob” while stationed in CT and VA in the Navy, family in New Hampshire, friends in Florida, and spent a good deal of time in Lancaster, PA. June will be remembered by her family and friends as a hard-working, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed a good conversation, and made friends easily.

In addition to her parents and first husband, John, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Leber in February 2018 and brother, Gene Ray. She is survived by her son, Bob; granddaughters, Kelley and Lauren Leber; and her great grandson, Blake Wronowicz, whom always gave her a big smile whenever he saw her, most recently at his 1st birthday celebration in October.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, December 3, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 531 North State Street, Ephrata, PA.
