Karl P. Koppel, Jr.
Mr. Karl Peter Koppel, Jr., age 81, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Little Sisters of the Poor.
Born in Pottstown, PA, on February 11, 1932, Mr. Koppel was the son of the late Thelma and Karl P. Koppel, Sr. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. In civilian life, he made his career in the packaging division of Avon Products in Newark. He was an avid sports fan throughout his life.
A loving father, brother, and grandfather, he is survived by his sons, Karl P. Koppel III of Jacksonville, FL, Ken A. Koppel (Patricia DiCostanza) of Newark, and Kevin B. Koppel, Sr. (Karen) of Delaware City; brother, Richard Koppel (Fern) of Boyertown, PA; sister, Eleanora Schmidt; grandchildren, Ken II, Nicholas, Andrew, Kevin Jr., Kelsey, Andrea, Kirstin, and Kathryn Koppel, and Kristine Jurich; great grandchildren, Tyler, Lucas, and Ryla; and his “second family”–the staff and residents of Little Sisters of the Poor.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 5 pm on Friday, July 12th, at Little Sisters of the Poor (Jeanne Jugan Residence), 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE, 19713, where visitation will begin at 4:30 pm. Interment will be held privately in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
