Kimberly A. “Kimmy” Cortes, age 39, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021.
Born in Wilmington, DE on July 7, 1982, she was a daughter of Enos F. Oakman and Susan D. (Hughes) Oakman. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her children. Kimmy had a heart of gold and a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. She will be missed by her family, friends, and several nieces and nephew.
Kimmy is survived by her step-mother, Cindy Oakman of Dover; companion, Edgar Tovar of Elsmere; children, Nia L. Mirabella of Bear, Erika M. Cortes, Sofia I. Cortes, and Alejandro Tovar, all of Wilmington; and sisters, Cherie Outten of Claymont, Barbara Outten of Bear, Mandy Outten of Bear, Katherine Pierce of Newark, and Heather Bleacher of Wilmington.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 pm until 2 pm on Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at Irish Society Hall, 1301 South Rodney Street, Wilmington, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 2 pm. Interment will be held privately.

When I heard the news of your passing it really hit home. Although we had only kept up via Facebook the last few years you were literally my very first best friend in life. We grew up right around the corner from each other, were in the same classes and our birthdays were 3 days apart. You and your family were like family growing up. Your house was where I learned to play Nintendo. Ahh I wish we could laugh at this together. I wish you were still here.
