L. Scott Mills

August 9, 1945 - August 21, 2025

L. Scott Mills, age 80, of New Castle, DE, formerly of Norristown, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025 in Christiana Hospital.

Born in Norristown, PA, on August 9, 1945, he was a son of the late Scott M. and Eleanor (Wheeler) Mills. He attended Temple University. Scott proudly served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He worked as a sales representative and wine consultant at Frank’s Union Wine Mart, Collier’s of Centreville, and other wine and spirits establishments.

Animal friendly, an avid reader, and a sports enthusiast, Scott volunteered at the Veteran’s Medical Center in Wilmington and at Asbury United Methodist Church with food distribution. He enjoyed his neighborhood “Village”, as he referred to it fondly. He enjoyed engaging in frequent conversations with other “Village” friends and neighbors as well as being a part of its informal food sharing network. He also spent time online playing computer games and with his Facebook “Friends”, often “discussing” political issues.

Scott is survived by his brother, Richard W. Mills, and sister, Eleanor M. (Mills) Miller.

A committal service will begin at 11 am on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

Guests are invited to a luncheon after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Scott’s memory to the  Vietnam Veterans of America, VVA Chapter #083, 446 Fleming Landing Rd., Townsend, DE 19734-9184 (bakfield@aol.com); Asbury United Methodist Church, Attention: Food Closet, 300 E. Basin Rd. New Castle, DE 19720 or online by clicking here; or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741 or online by clicking here.
