Larry W. Thompson, Sr.

Larry W. Thompson, Sr., age 66, of Townsend, Delaware, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018.

Born in Wilmington on August 18, 1951, he was a son of the late William and Agnes (Biddle) Thompson.  Larry worked at Johnson Controls and retired after many years of dedicated service.

If you met Larry once he left a special place in your heart.  He took great pride in his grandkids especially spending time with them.  Larry was a former member of the Middletown Fire Department and enjoyed shooting pool with his friends.  Above all, he was a beloved father and grandfather.

Larry is survived by his sons, Larry W. Thompson, Jr. of Cecilton, MD and Mark G. Thompson (Buffy) of Townsend; brother, Gary Thompson (Betty) of Townsend; sisters, Marilyn McGeoch of Middletown, Jackie Spicer (Jack) of Middletown and Ramona Vinyard of Florida; and grandchildren, Allyson, Kayla, Faith and Hope.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:30 am until 1 pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm.  Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn, DE.

  • It’s been many many years since I’ve talked to either Gary or Larry but I do remember how nice they treated me and always made me laugh. I am so sorry to hear about Larry. He still brings a smile to my face when I think of him. I’m sure neither Gary or Larry would have remembered me but that’s ok…….i remember them!
