Lee Roy “Mike” Tibbett, Jr.

February 8, 1934 - October 5, 2019

Lee Roy Tibbett, Jr. “Mike”, age 85, of Clayton, DE, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019.  ​Born in Newark, DE, on February 8, 1934, he was a son of the late Elsie G. (King) and Lee Roy Tibbett, Sr. Mike spent most of his childhood in Marshallton. 

Mike was a very hard-working man who successfully built and operated a family business, Mike’s Glass Service, Inc., for over 54 years. 

​Starting at a young age, his love for horses grew into a lifelong passion. Mike enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, especially country and blue grass. 

​In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Mike is survived by his children: Mary T. Casper (Peter), Lee R. Tibbett, III “Mike” (Virginia), Gustave A. Tibbett, Debora L. Roberson (Tom), and Sherrie J. McCracken (Ralph); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. 

​A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.  A second visitation will be held the following morning, Friday, October 11, 2019 at 10 am at the funeral home, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

​In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713.

I always loved to hear him laugh, he had his very own special laugh. Mike will be dearly missed by all that knew him. I know I will miss him. Sending you all a Big Hug.

  • Mike was a great help to me as a young man while working for him at the glass shop. I also was proud to be part of the service station. As a boy with no father figure in my life his work ethics has stuck with me he will remain in my thoughts

Painting the red Van’s for you should have been twice what I charged you. But you always put a smile on my face when you had no problem getting the business I did paid for.
