Leland A. “Lanny” Aiken, Jr.

March 29, 1948 - January 10, 2022

Leland A. “Lanny” Aiken, Jr., age 73, of Claymont, DE, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022.

Born in Middletown, DE, on March 29, 1948, he was the son of the late Mitchell and Margaret (Tyler) Poore. Lanny worked as a security officer for A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital for many years, prior to his retirement. He was considered a jack of all trades and was a doomsday prepper survivalist. Lanny was also an avid reader, who was excited about developing his own board game.

In addition to his parents, Lanny was preceded in death by his siblings, Roger Aiken, Brenda DeLoach, and Wayne Aiken. He is survived by his loving fiancée of 33 years, Patricia A. Stewart; children, Leland A. Aiken III, Richmond D. Aiken (Jessica), and Vivian M. Aiken; siblings, Pat Slaughter, Barbara Chiappone, and Andy Aiken; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.  

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 am. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance regardless of their vaccination status. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
