Mrs. Lillian Rose Poplos, age 89, of Middletown, DE, and formerly of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2013.
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Poplos was born in Wilmington on September 4, 1923, daughter of the late Vincenzo Catalina and Concetta Collucci Catalina. She was a talented homemaker and adoring mother, who dedicated her life to caring for her large family.
Mrs. Poplos was a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church and later became a member of Holy Angels Church. In her leisure time, she enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. Above all else, she loved her family and treasured the time she spent with each of them.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Poplos was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles M. Poplos, Jr.; 2 brothers; 4 sisters; and a granddaughter, Debbie Poplos. She is survived by her children, Charles Poplos, III and wife, Norma of Dover, Ronald Poplos and wife, Diane of Newark, Gregory Poplos and wife, Linda of Avondale, PA, Richard Poplos of New Castle, Karen Tattersall and husband, Thomas of Hockessin, and Arlene Rogers and husband, Donald of Middletown; 14 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 3 step great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Broadmeadow Healthcare and Compassionate Care Hospice for the excellent care provided to Mrs. Poplos.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 Noon on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Ninth and DuPont Streets Wilmington, where family and friends may call from 10:30 am until 12 Noon. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
