Lillie A. Weaver, passed away on September 9, 2018, at the Milton and Hattie Kutz Home, age the age of 85.

She was the daughter of the late Harry and Rebecca Spayd. Lillie retired from the State of Delaware as a cafeteria worker at De La Warr High School until it closed and then William Penn High School.

Lillie enjoyed watching the Phillies and listening to country music. She loved animals and always had her cats around her. She would always take in strays and give them a home.

In addition to her parents, Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Weaver, Sr. and son-in-law, Jack Willis. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Willis; son, Richard F. Weaver, Jr. (Clarice); grandsons, Richard F. Weaver III (Lisa) and Robert Weaver; granddaughter, Caitlyn Willis; and best friend, Georgia Wood.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Milton and Hattie Kutz Home for the excellent care that they gave Lillie.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am, on Monday, September 17, 2018, at the Chapel in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lillie’s name to the Holloway Terrace Fire Co, Manor Branch, P.O. Box 684, New Castle, DE 19720.

  • Richie, sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. She was a very sweet lady and a kind soul. I remember my mom speaking fondly of your mom from their days working in the Wm Penn cafeteria. Prayers of comfort to you and your family.

  • To Richie and Sandy, So sorry for your sudden loss of your Mother. We grew up together in the 1930’s and continued that relationship until her last birthday. She always looked beautiful, was well cared for, and was glad to see us. When Colleen was up from Florida, we had a reunion and there was a ice cream party. We loved her very much and had some wonderful memories. Will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. Sadly missed. June, Janice and Dolores.

  • Sorry to see Lillie Weaver has passed away. I haven’t seen her in years but she is I believe a cousin or very good friend of my sister-in-law Doris Lillard (nee O’Connor). My brothers were really good friends with Dick and I knew Dick and Lillie as a child. May she rest in peace.
