Liz Clementoni
August 14, 1949 - May 29, 2023
Liz Clementoni, age 73, of Smyrna, DE, passed away from a long illness on Monday, May 29, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Wilmington, DE on August 14, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Alfred “Freddy” Clementoni and Jeanette (Cardile) Clementoni-Lyons. Liz retired from the State of Delaware after 30 years of service. She then worked part time as a tax consultant. Liz’s dream was to have her own clothing store, so she and her brother, Nicky opened their own shop at the farmer’s market. She spent multiple years running her business until she became ill and couldn’t work anymore.
Liz was a very loving and caring person. She enjoyed spending her summer vacations in Wildwood, NJ with her family every year. Her greatest joy was spending time with all of her nieces and nephews and spoiling them with her generosity. She also liked getting together with her extended family, which included many cousins, eating good Italian food and reminiscing. Before moving in with her sister a few months ago, Liz lived with her niece and namesake, 4-year-old Elizabeth, who was truly the light of her life. Living her last few months with her sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Tony, gave them quality time together and to share special final memories.
In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her brother, Nicky Clementoni; and great niece, Laci Ackerson. She is survived by her sister, Janet Latzgo (Tony); nieces and nephews; Godson/Dave Snowberger (Stephanie), Chris Ackerson (Lisa), Freddy Clementoni (Marissa), Goddaughter/Heather Leary (Eric), and Evelyn Ackerson; great nieces and nephews, Dave II, Danny, Elizabeth, Freddie, Kylee, Connor, Tyler, Danielle, and RJ; and numerous cousins.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 pm until 3 pm on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 3 pm. Interment will be held privately.
