Mrs. Lois A. Krauss, known fondly as “Lo-Lo,” age 76, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013.
Born in Augusta, GA, on October 10, 1936, Mrs. Krauss made her career as a professional nanny. She truly loved the many children who thrived under her care and delighted in helping them grow into capable and independent young people. Devoted to her own family as well, she was always at her happiest when in the joyful company of her beloved children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Krauss especially enjoyed sharing wonderful Italian feasts with family and friends. Other favorite pastimes included crocheting, trying her luck at Delaware Park and in Atlantic City, watching classic movie westerns, listening to her favorite country music artists, singing karaoke, and browsing for interesting finds at yard sales. For many years, Mrs. Krauss also enjoyed working as a bartender at such popular local pubs as Bill’s Friendly Tavern, the Galaxy, the Terrace Athletic Club, and the Airport Inn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Ernie” Krauss. She is survived by her three children, Bonnie Faverio and husband Wayne of Bear, Debbie Santa Barbara of Allen, TX, and Tom “T-Bone” Santa Barbara and wife Lisa of Elsmere; grandchildren, Lauren Faverio, Shelby Turner and husband Kevin, Chip Santa Barbara, Randy Santa Barbara, and Gina Santa Barbara; five great grandchildren (and three more expected soon); and her beloved pet teacup poodle, Mia.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, May 3, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, with a memorial service to follow at 7 pm.
