Lucy E. Medeiros

Lucy E. Medeiros, age 74, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

Born in Cambridge, MA on May 21, 1941, Mrs. Medeiros was a daughter of the late Ernest Roy and Nellie (Harmon) Whiteway. She was a talented homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her family.

A devout Catholic, Mrs. Medeiros was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family Church in Newark. She was a member of Elks Lodge No. 2281, Newark. Above all else, Mrs. Medeiros was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be very dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John A. Medeiros and son, Joseph M. Carroccino. Mrs. Medeiros is survived by her children, Jean M. Carroccino of Newark, Ernest R. Carroccino (Cheryl) of Tallahassee, FL and Lorry A. Carroccino of Somerville, MA; brother, William Whiteway, Sr. of Somerville, MA; sister, Merle Penny Dugger of Manchester, NH; grandchildren, Cameron, Alicia, Kylie and Anthony; and 3 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am on Saturday morning, April 16, 2016, at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
