Lydia L. Walls

Lydia L. Walls, age 80, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, with her family at her side.
Lydia worked at the Speakman Company for thirty years. During her employ, she was a member of the United Steel Workers Union, where she served as a recording secretary.
Before her illness, Lydia enjoyed being outdoors, especially in her garden. She was also an avid reader of Stephen King novels and an expert in solving complex puzzles. But nothing made her happier than being with her family–particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she adored.
Lydia is survived by her seven children, Lindsay W. Walls, Michael R. Walls and wife Donna, Judy L. Govin and husband Austin, Barbara A. Lloyd, Karen Walls, Rebecca Decker and husband Michael, and Charles M. Walls; her sister, Gloria McDonald; three brothers, Paul Lewis, Kendall Lewis, and George Lewis; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lorenzo “Bud” Lewis, and a great granddaughter, McKayla R. Hall.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, January 7th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow at 2 pm in Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Lydia may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
