Mrs. M. Claire Northam, age 70, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013, at Christiana Hospital.
Born in Norfolk, VA, on March 6, 1942, daughter of the late Charles H. Moore and Mabel Mobley Moore, Mrs. Northam was a graduate of Delaware City High School. She made her career as an office professional, working as a senior administrative assistant in the Budgeting Department of the University of Delaware, where she retired after over 39 years of service.
A devout Christian, Mrs. Northam was a longtime member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Delaware City. She was also active in the M.O.T. Senior Center, the Delaware City Senior Center, and the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 26 years, Tullie P. Northam; children, Mary Claire Laird (David) of Bear, William Yowell, Jr. (Temple) of Kirkwood, and Margaret Jane “Maggie” Mathena (Ken) of Dover; stepson, Mark Northam of Wilmington; brother, Charles H. Moore III of Middletown; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, January 30th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 31st, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 309 Clinton Street, Delaware City. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
