Mrs. Margaret Frances Pope, age 66, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012.
Mrs. Pope was born in Radford, VA, on December 8, 1945, daughter of the late Grace and Teddy Compton. A talented homemaker with a true “heart of gold,” she devoted her life to caring for her beloved family. She was well known for her kindness and generosity, gladly lending a hand to anyone in need. Whether giving her time, talents, or resources, she was always at her happiest when helping others.
In her leisure hours, Mrs. Pope looked forward to trips to Delaware Park, where she enjoyed trying her luck on the slot machines. Most of all, she delighted in spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Bryce Thomas Pope; children, Thomas Bryce Pope (Rosemarie) of Delaware, Sherry Sagov (Adam) of Maryland, and Michele Aliff (Daryl) of Delaware; brother, Billy Cole (Louise) of Virginia; sister, Barbara Lloyd of Delaware; grandchildren, Amanda Pope, Ashley Pope, Alyssa Pope, Samantha Sagov, Justin Aliff, Jessica Aliff, and Dylan Aliff; and many extended family members and friends.
The family extends their sincere thanks to good friends Barbara Fellure and Verna Pierce for their help in caring for Mrs. Pope during her illness, and to the staff of Delaware Hospice, especially nurse Latrina Jones-Atwater.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Entombment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Pope may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
