Marjorie A. “Margie” Rodriguez

April 9, 1948 - October 26, 2018

Marjorie A. “Margie” Rodriguez, age 70, of Collins Park, New Castle, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018, in Christiana Hospital.

Margie’s career was in Nutrition Services, as she began in 1984 working in the Colonial School District, specifically Colwyck Elementary School. She loved the elementary students, but had a very special place in her heart for the children of John G. Leach School. In 1997, she was promoted to lead worker. After nearly 30 years of service, Margie decided it was time to retire in 2013.

One of her supervisors said: “If I had a “˜Top 10′ list, Margie would be on it!”

Margie is survived by her beloved husband, Israel Rodriguez, whom she was married to for nearly 56 years; her daughter, Diane Rush (Joseph A. Rush, Jr.) of New Castle; granddaughter, Ashley Rush Collacchi (Joshua Collacchi) of Middletown; brothers, John R. Allen and Donald E. Allen both of New Castle. Margie was predeceased by her father, John Allen; mother, Gladys Goodyear; sisters, Jean Orange and Gladys L. Skrzec; and brother, James T. Allen.

One of the joys in Margie’s life was spending time with family. She loved hosting Christmas and Easter holidays. It was well known, everyone looked forward to her cooking. Those holidays were very special and all will cherish those memories. Margie was a special person and will be missed my many.

Services will be at 11 am on Saturday, November 3, 2018, in the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE, where friends may gather beginning at 10 am. Burial will be in the adjoining memorial park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), https://rarediseases.org/. The family asks that any donations made be dedicated to Margie Rodriguez as a memorial donation.
