Martha Jane (Guin) Bennett

Martha Jane (Guin) Bennett, age 91, originally from Jacksonville, TX, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2020.

In life, Martha loved being a blessing to her family, helping out when and wherever she could. Her love of travelling and spending time with her family, as well as reading and doing crosswords, filled her days with happiness and content. Martha was always up for a good cup of coffee and interesting conversation. She persevered through many challenges, financial and health problems to become a successful business owner of Dipper’s Delight ice cream store in Sarasota, FL, where she later retired and resided until returning to Delaware to be closer to family who were the center of her life.

Martha was preceded in in death by her husband, Earl Clifton Bennett; son, William Gerald Bennett; grandson, Gerald Michael Bennett; parents, Asa and Ann Guin; and six siblings. She is survived by her four children, Earl Cleveland Bennett and Phyllis Ann Bennett, both of Smithfield, VA; Nora Bennett Smith and her husband Ken of Osprey, FL; and Joan Bennett Widdekind and her husband Michael of Centreville, MD; eight grandchildren, Cherie Bennett Pearlman, William Gerald Bennett, Carrie Bennett-Bland, Mary Bennett-Browning, Jennifer Smith Bullock, Tara Smith Greene, Matthew Hans Widdekind, and Andrew James Widdekind; six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

All services will be held privately.
