Mary V. Ruiter

Mrs. Mary V. Ruiter, age 92, of Newark, DE, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 17, 2012.
Mrs. Ruiter was born in Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada, on May 5, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mabel Gouchie. A talented homemaker, she devoted her life to caring for her beloved family.
A skilled knitter and seamstress, Mrs. Ruiter enjoyed creating unique and beautiful gifts for others, collecting antiques, and gardening. Above all else, Mrs. Ruiter will be remembered by all as a kind, gentle, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Glenn B. Ruiter and daughter, Carol A. Burton. Mrs. Ruiter is survived by her children, Gail M. Schmesser and husband Martin of Newark, Brian B. Ruiter and wife Charlean of Bear, Laura B. Potts and husband David of Townsend, and Donna L. Ruiter-Wingard of Newark; grandchildren, Jean E. Wright, Glenn H. Wingard, Jennifer L. Ruiter, Kristina M. Wingard, and Gena L. Potts; and great grandson, Connor G. Wingard.
A celebration of life will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Ruiter may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047.
