Melanie Anne Haldas, age 43, of Bear, DE, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021.

Born in Delaware County, Pennsylvania on May 7, 1977, she was a daughter of Stanley John Zalota, Jr. and Cynthia Louise Murray. Melanie graduated summa cum laude from Wilmington University with her Bachelor of Science. She then made her career for over 17 years as a claims processor for State Farm Insurance. Melanie became a dedicated volunteer at the Adult Day Center in Fox Run Shopping Center. She enjoyed traveling, visits to the beach, and continuously supporting her daughter and husband. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and working to improve the lives of others.

In addition to her parents, Melanie is survived by her devoted husband of 20 years, Christopher Haldas; daughter, Amber Haldas of Bear; siblings, Stanley Zalota III (Lisa) of Aston, PA, Angela Higgins (Robert) of Bear, Heather Giomboni (Dominic) of Glenolden, PA, Jason Smith of Newport, Joshua Zalota (Alicia) of Aston, PA and Jacob Zalota of Linwood, PA; along with many nieces and nephews.

A public visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. Service and interment will be held privately.
