Michael G. “Mike” Yannette, age 53, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

Born in Hawthorne, NJ on January 2, 1968, he was a son of Michael and Barbara J. (Bankos) Yannette. Mike was a graduate of the University of Albany in 1990. He served as a Vice President of J.P. Morgan Chase Information Systems. Mike retired from the State of Delaware working in the Division of Weights and Measures. Active in his church, Mike served as an usher for several years at St. Joseph’s Parish and St. Polycarp Church in Smyrna. A friend to the community, he served as a Past Grand Knight of Old Bohemia Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed woodworking and riding his Harley.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Debra (Girello) Yannette; parents, Michael and Barbara Yannette; siblings, Kevin Yannette (Jennifer), Jeffrey Yannette (Nichole) and Clare Perrin (Scott); nephews, Kevin, Jacob, Carter, Luke and Jack; and nieces, Megan and Chloe.

A visitation will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Parish, 371 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. Interment will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, June 4, 2021, in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, 301 Lock Street, Chesapeake City, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s memory to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.

  • As Mike’s pastor for a decade at St. Joseph’s & 13 years at St. Polycarp, I tried my best to inspire him. But he always encouraged, uplifted, and inspired me. I am a better man & a better priest because of him.

  • A friend first and a co worker second. A man who gave of himself putting others first. I loved hearing of his motorcycle trips north in the fall and having frequent conversations at work. This is difficult to understand but all is in God’s hands now.
