Michael R. “Mickey” Poccynek
January 8, 1941 - December 2, 2022
Michael R. “Mickey” Poccynek, age 81, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 2, 2022.
Born and raised in Wilmington, DE on January 8, 1941, he was a son of the late Michael S. and Pearl (Damico) Poccynek. Mickey proudly served in the United States Army in Korea. During his time at Regal Heights, he loved playing cards, and being a social butterfly, always saying hello to all the other residents. Most of all, Mickey enjoyed Friday Happy Hour.
In addition to his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by his sister, Stella M. Greenberg. He is survived by his children, Michael Poccynek (Amy Green) of Middletown and Erin Poccynek of New Castle; grandson, Isaiah Chapman; siblings, Barbara Hadley of New Castle, John Poccynek (Irene) of Newark, Diane Myers of Wilmington, and David Poccynek of Wilmington; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Regal Heights for the excellent care given to Mickey.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
