Michael William “Mike” Bashkow

          Michael William “Mike” Bashkow, age 26, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019.

          Born in Newark, DE on June 17, 1993, he was a son of Jack and Karen Ann (Petusky) Bashkow.  Mike graduated from Newark High School and most recently worked for Gibellino Construction Company.

          Mike always had a winning personality and a kind heart. Those who met Mike loved him.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and beautiful smile. He was always there to lend a hand to those who needed him. He held a special place in the hearts of family and friends. Mike was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. This past summer he took great pride in vegetable and flower gardening and woodworking.  Mike touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.

          He is survived by his parents, Jack and Karen; brothers, Ben and Brian ; uncle, Ronald Bashkow; uncle and aunt, Edward Petusky (Susan); aunt and uncle, Linda Brezina (Mark); and several cousins and many dear friends.

          A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 11 am on Monday, December 2, 2019, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am. Luncheon in church hall following Mass. Interment will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, December 2, 2019 in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE.

          In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mike’s memory to atTAcK addiction, P.O. Box 36, Bear, DE 19701.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Mike from middle school and I just happened to stumble across this on the NewsJournal. I am so sorry.Losing a loved one is so hard especially at such a young age. I will keep tour family in my prayers and may the hope at Rev 21:4 help you in this difficult time. “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away“.

  • Karen, to you and your family, I offer my sincere condolences. As you know, I can feel your pain in losing a child. Please know I am always available if you want to talk. I still attend The Compassionate Friends support group for parents, siblings and grandparents that have lost a child.

  • I was heartbroken to see this. I considered Mike as one of my best friends during middle and high school. I could always count on him to make me laugh when I was having a bad day. I’m so sorry we lost touch after high school, but I’ll always remember the Phillies games we went to and of course the parade when they won the world series. Prayers and love to your family.
