Nancy Elizabeth Rhodes

Nancy Elizabeth Rhodes, age 83, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, October 2, 2021.
Born in Tazewell, VA on October 29, 1937, she was a daughter of the late William L. and Beulah F. (Hash) Hoops.
After graduating from Tazewell High School in 1956, Nancy married and started a family. Once her children were grown, she entered the workforce and worked for various retail stores, including Value City. Nancy loved to travel, bowl, and work in her yard. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Most of all, Nancy was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Brogan, Edith Ann Hoops, and Anthony Hoops. Nancy is survived by her husband of 39 years, Gary L. Rhodes; children, James L. Bench, Jr. (Jackie), Beverly Meadow, Michael Bench (Christy); siblings, John Hoops (Margaret), James Hoops (Barbara), Timothy Hoops, and Barbara Chapman (James); 7 grandchildren, Amy, Jessica, Jenna Lee, Daniel, Jr., Kenny, Becky, and Michelle; and many great grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, followed by a funeral service at 12 pm. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the Governor of Delaware. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
