Norma Frances Riley Andrew
Mrs. Norma Frances Riley Andrew, age 82, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2011.
Mrs. Andrew was born in Franklin, IN, on March 21, 1929. Though she spent much of her professional career in the restaurant industry, her true calling was sewing. An amazingly talented seamstress, she delighted in designing beautiful clothing and other finely-detailed handiwork for family, friends, and neighbors alike. She was also a gifted quilter and an avid crafter throughout her life, well known for generously sharing with others the many lovely things she made.
Admired for her “green thumb,” Mrs. Andrew looked forward to planting a lush and colorful garden around her home each year. She greatly enjoyed reading as well.
Mrs. Andrew will be long remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who charmed everyone with her winning and quirky sense of humor. Her beloved husband, Kemp Jefferson Andrew, died in 1996. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie A. Sturgis and Patricia Abbott; grandchildren, Michelle Ortiz, Amanda Sturgis, Kyle Sturgis, and Nicole Dill; and great grandchildren, Hayden, Kailee, Ryan, Ashley, and Caden.
The family extends their sincere thanks to Heartland Hospice, especially nurse Denise, and to the staff of Heartland Hospice House for their many kindnesses to Mrs. Andrew during her illness.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 12, 2011, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will be held privately.
Flowers in memory of Mrs. Andrew will be appreciated.
