Died: 7/16/2011

Mr. Edmond Paul Estep, age 91, of Dover, DE, formerly of New Castle, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at his home.

Mr. Estep was born in Bland County, VA, on March 11, 1920, son of the late William Thomas Estep and Nancy Lucinda Owens Estep. A US Navy veteran of World War II, he proudly served his country in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines. In civilian life, Mr. Estep made his career as a master carpenter, retiring from Union Local 626 after 30 years of service. He was an excellent woodworker and craftsman throughout his life, making many beautiful pieces as special gifts for family and friends. He was also a talented musician and often entertained appreciative audiences playing piano, guitar, and harmonica. He greatly enjoyed fishing and spending time on the water.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Mamie I. Parks Estep; children, Mary Lou Estep of Wilmington, Douglas E. Estep and wife, Patricia, of New Castle, and Thomas W. Estep and wife, Lisa, of Newark; daughter-in-law, Barbara Estep of Dover; 13 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Jimmie Estep and Billy Estep, and grandson, Jimmie Estep, Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
