Peter “Pete” Casper - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Peter “Pete” Casper

Peter “Pete” Casper, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the age of 97.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Tibbett Casper, and his cherished children: Sons, Peter (Lucy), Jason (Ami), Michael and his favorite daughter, Ginger. Pete’s legacy continues through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored and cared for in his own special way, lovingly running “PopPop’s Daycare” even until a few weeks before he passed.  Nothing meant more to PopPop than spending time with his family.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Pete served his country with honor. Throughout his life, he was a self-employed businessman, demonstrating the same dedication and commitment to his work as he did to his family. He owned and operated CASPER’S AUTO PARTS and St. Georges Mobil for nearly 35 years collectively. At the age of 65, Pete retired from Merit Mechanical and his retirement allowed him the joy of nurturing his grandchildren, a role he embraced with open arms and a full heart.

Peter had an unwavering devotion to the Blessed Mother and took inspiration from St. Joseph, guiding him in his faith and shaping him into a loving husband and father. His life was a testament to the values of kindness, generosity, and selflessness. Those who had the privilege of knowing Pete were often touched by his warm spirit and genuine care for others. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and loved, and his kindness knew no bounds.

Friends are invited to visit the Casper family on Tuesday, February 25th from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Spicer Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.  There they can share their memories and honor a truly remarkable man.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, February 26th at 10:30am, at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, 10 Old Church Rd in Greenville, DE.  Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, reflecting Pete’s commitment to children.

Peter Casper will be deeply missed, but his spirit and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Rest in peace, Pop; you lived and loved for 97 beautiful years.

  • Uncle Pete. My favorite memory of him is when he picked up my brothers and i,and we rode in the back of that maroon and white GMC to spend the night. The buzzing of the snow tires and that rusty truck bed. I loved it. I tried to copy Pete’s haircut, many times over the years, to no avail. Can’t copy an original. So much love and respect. 97 years. Well done uncle Pete.
