Phylis Helen (Williams) Vivian

April 25, 1931 - November 15, 2021

Phylis Helen (Williams) Vivian, age 90, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 15, 2021.

Born in Kingston, PA, on April 25, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Philip and Martha Williams. Phylis grew up in a close-knit family in Forty Fort. As a young child, she constantly ran away from home to go to school because they had chocolate milk. It happened so often that the principal decided to let her start a year early as long as she could keep up – and she did. Her family was very active in their church and Phylis sang in three church choirs as a child.

Phylis moved to Newark, DE with her husband and two small children in 1954. Over the years she was active in her church, Eastern Star, crafting clubs, and the Newark Senior Center chorus. Phylis loved traveling, especially to the beach, and spent many happy summers in Fenwick Island. She served her community as an elections officer and worked for Met Life until her retirement. Phylis will be remembered as a loving mother to her three children and friend to many.

Phylis is survived by her three children, Marti (Bob), Scott (Sue) and Jill; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Carrie and Jamie; and six great-grandchildren, Austin, Jordan, Avery, Cole, Logan and Noah.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Phylis’s memory to The Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Ste. 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

The family would like to thank Coral Springs Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice for their care and kindness.
