Phyllis Kathryn Faucett
Mrs. Phyllis Kathryn Faucett, age 83, of Newark, DE, died on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, after a long illness.
Born in Binghamton, NY, on October 4, 1926, Phyllis spent some of her young adult life in southern California, where she worked for the Department of the Navy in San Diego. A talented homemaker, she had a great love for all her family, including her niece and nephews.
Phyllis loved flowers and spent numerous hours in her backyard tending to her many gardens filled with magnificent azaleas, lilacs, hydrangeas, and rhododendrons. She enjoyed reading, as well, and spending time watching the deer, foxes, and birds in her backyard. She also loved her pets, both dogs and cats, of which she had many over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lt. Cmdr. William A Faucett, in 1999, and by a daughter, Sandra Lynn Forfar, in 2009. She is survived by her children, William W. Faucett (Donna) of Eatonton, GA, Randall Scott Faucett (Katie) of North Aurora, IL, and Michele K. Faucett of Newark, DE; son-in-law, Rick Forfar of Howell, NJ; grandchildren, Cory (Jennifer), Michael, Ashley, Katie, William, and Bill; and great grandchildren, Ryan, Amelia, and Gavin.
Visitation will be held from 11 am to 12 noon on Monday, September 20, 2010, at Newark United Methodist Church, 69 E. Main Street, Newark, DE. The funeral service will follow at 12:15 pm. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
